Pinning The Tartan is a wonderful Scottish tradition - a piece of the clan's tartan (or perhaps a sash) is pinned to the bride by a member of the groom’s family, typically the mother. In turn, a member of the bride’s family will pin a piece of their clan's tartan on the groom.
This is an old and beautiful way for families to seal the union of both their traditions and ancestry, and declare their welcome to their new family member.
This enhancement can also be included in same-sex weddings and commitment ceremonies.
