Shay Dunne

Hello! My name is Shay, and I am the proud founder of Unity Ceremonies, where I am a registered Legal Solemniser and Celebrant.

This is my second time entering the world of celebrancy. I previously worked as a celebrant, before life took me in a different direction – I lived abroad for a number of years. Although I loved the experiences those years brought, there was always a part of me that knew I wanted to return to celebrancy.

That opportunity came when I was asked to lead the funeral service of a dear relative. It was an incredible honour and privilege to accompany and support my family through such an important moment, and it reminded me just how much I love creating meaningful ceremonies. It was the moment I knew I had found my way back to the work I was truly meant to do.

I have always enjoyed working alongside couples and families, supporting and guiding them as they celebrate life's most meaningful moments. For me, being a celebrant is much more than a profession - it is a vocation. Being invited to share in people's most significant life milestones is a true privilege.

My background in teaching, social care, and social work has shaped both who I am and how I work. I am a people person and I genuinely enjoy getting to know the individuals, couples, and families I have the privilege of working with. I strive to bring warmth, empathy, calm, and care to every ceremony, ensuring that each person feels heard, supported, and valued throughout the journey.

Although I am a spiritual person, I believe deeply in diversity, inclusion, and respect for every individual. I warmly welcome people from all backgrounds, beliefs, cultures, and walks of life, and I believe every story deserves to be celebrated in a way that is authentic, meaningful, and uniquely personal.

Whether I am officiating at a wedding, a naming ceremony, or a celebration of life, my aim is always the same: to create a ceremony that reflects your story, celebrates what matters most to you, and leaves you and your loved ones with memories to treasure for years to come.
