How long does the celebrant course take to complete?

The Path to Ministry course is designed to fit around your existing life, work and family commitments.

It’s completed mostly online (aside from your final in-person assessments) and at your own pace, so there is no fixed timetable or set date by which you have to complete each module.

How long does the course take?

Most students can expect the online course content to take around 40 hours to complete.

The course includes more than 120 lessons across 19 modules, covering weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies, legal requirements, ceremony writing, client care, branding and more.

Some people move through the course quite quickly. Others prefer to study gradually over several months. Both approaches are completely fine.

You’ll have one year of access

When you enrol, you’ll have access to the Path to Ministry course for one year from your start date.

That gives you plenty of time to work through the lessons, complete your assignments, take on tutor feedback and prepare properly for the next stages of your training.

Don’t rush through it

This isn’t a course you should try to race through just to reach the finish line.

The aim is to help you feel confident writing and leading ceremonies, working with clients and handling the responsibilities that come with being a celebrant. Taking the time to properly understand the material will make a real difference when you begin working with couples and families.

What about tutor feedback?

The course is self-paced, but your assignments are reviewed by a tutor.

Feedback and corrections take time, particularly when tutors are reviewing work from multiple students. It’s worth allowing for this as you move through the course, rather than planning around a very tight deadline.

In short, the course content takes around 40 hours, but your overall timeline is up to you. You can begin when you’re ready and work through the training at a pace that suits your life!
