What are the criteria for acceptance into the GRO NI Register of Solemnisers?

What are the criteria for acceptance into the GRO NI Register of Solemnisers?

To qualify for inclusion on the General Register Office Northern Ireland (GRO NI) Register of Solemnisers, applicants must meet specific criteria designed to ensure that they are prepared and committed to performing their solemnising duties professionally and legally.

Here's a detailed breakdown of the requirements:

- Wedding Booking Requirement: At the time of your nomination for inclusion on the register, you must have at least one confirmed wedding booking in Northern Ireland. This includes providing the names of the couple, their confirmed wedding date, and the venue for the ceremony.

- Notification to GRO NI: The couple you are booked to marry must have notified the GRO NI at least 28 days in advance that you will be officiating their marriage. Without this notice, the booking cannot be used as a valid entry criterion for the register.

- FuturFaith Ministry Graduation: You must have successfully completed FuturFaith Ministry's online course to be eligible for nomination by FuturFaith Ministry. This ensures that you have the necessary training and understanding to conduct marriage ceremonies.

- Public Liability Insurance: It's essential to have current and valid Public Liability insurance at the time of your nomination. This insurance protects you and ensures the professionalism and credibility of your services.

- FuturFaith Ministry Membership: Continuous payment of the monthly FuturFaith Ministry membership fee is required for your initial entry and ongoing inclusion on the GRO NI Register of Solemnisers. Non-payment of this membership fee will result in removal from the register.

Ordination is not a prerequisite for registration, making the process accessible to a wider range of individuals who are committed to upholding the standards of solemnisation in Northern Ireland.

These criteria are set to ensure that solemnisers are adequately prepared and maintain a high standard of service, contributing to the integrity of the marriage process in Northern Ireland.
