You can start attending shadowing sessions and student graduations from the very beginning of your training.
As soon as you've enrolled in the Path to Ministry course and joined the training platform, you're welcome to book a place at any upcoming opportunities that are made available to students.
Shadowing Rev. Lorraine
Throughout your training, we may offer opportunities to shadow Rev. Lorraine McCarthy while she conducts a real ceremony. These sessions give you the chance to see what you've been learning put into practice - from preparing the ceremony space and working with venue staff to communicating with couples, managing guests and adapting to everything that happens on the day.
You don't need to reach a particular module or complete a certain number of assignments first. If a shadowing opportunity becomes available after you've joined the course, you're welcome to book a place.
Places are limited and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
One shadowing session per student
Each student or graduate can attend one shadowing session in total.
Real ceremony shadowing opportunities are naturally limited, and only a small number of students can attend each ceremony. Limiting attendance to one session ensures that as many FuturFaith students/graduates as possible get the opportunity to experience a real ceremony first-hand.
So, if you've already completed a shadowing session during your training, please leave future spaces available for students who haven't yet had the opportunity.
Attending student graduations at Homestead House
You can also attend upcoming student graduation days at Homestead House from the beginning of your training.
Graduation days are a great opportunity to watch other students complete their final in-person assessments, including their wedding and funeral ceremonies, and to get a feel for what your own final assessment day will eventually look like.
Unlike shadowing, you're not limited to attending just one graduation day.
Note: Attending at least 1 graduation day at Homestead House is a mandatory part of your training journey.
How will I know when opportunities are available?
We'll let students know via our WhatsApp community group whenever an upcoming shadowing session or graduation day is open for attendance. Details will be shared with the community, along with information on how to reserve your place.
You don't need to wait until you're further through the course. If you've enrolled and joined the training platform, keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities and get involved whenever you can!
