At FuturFaith, grading is not about catching you out or ticking boxes. It is about helping you grow into a confident, capable officiant.
This page explains how grading works, what kind of feedback you can expect, and how to get the most from it.
All assignments are reviewed by experienced FuturFaith tutors who are actively involved in ceremony work, alongside our in-house IT team who check and correct formatting.
Your work is assessed against clear criteria that focus on:
Understanding of ceremony structure and purpose
Clarity, tone, and appropriateness of language
Understanding of ceremony structure and purpose
Your ability to create meaningful, person-centred ceremonies
The feedback your tutors will provide is detailed, specific and easy to follow. You can expect:
You will receive written feedback directly on your assignment that clearly explains what you have done well. This includes specific comments on language choices, structure, and overall approach, not just general praise.
Where something is working, we tell you exactly why, so you can repeat and build on it in future ceremonies.
This helps you recognise your strengths and gain confidence in your own style, rather than second-guessing whether you are “doing it right.”
If any part of your work needs improvement, this will be clearly and kindly explained.
We do not simply point out what needs to change. We explain what is missing, unclear, or misaligned, and why it matters in real ceremony settings.
This ensures you understand the purpose behind the feedback, rather than making changes blindly. If no improvements are needed, we will tell you that too.
Feedback always includes practical suggestions you can apply straight away. This might involve rephrasing a section, adjusting ceremony flow, or refining how you address people involved in the ceremony.
These suggestions are grounded in real officiating experience and are designed to help you develop skills you will actually use with couples and families. The aim is to support long-term growth, not just completion of an assignment.
All feedback is rooted in real-world officiating, not abstract theory. Tutors draw on lived experience of leading ceremonies, working with couples, and managing live moments.
This means feedback reflects what works in practice, what feels natural when spoken aloud, and what creates a meaningful experience for those present.
You are being trained for real ceremonies, not just coursework, and your feedback reflects that reality.
We aim to return feedback as promptly as possible. Typical turnaround times are outlined in the course platform, though these may vary slightly during busy periods.
If you are ever unsure whether enough time has passed, check the Help Centre first or reach out through the usual support channels.
